A Letter to Saddam Hussein

Dear Saddam,
By now, most thoughtful people and quite a few stupid people have managed to
acquire a fairly accurate assessment of your net worth to humankind. In real
terms, this amounts, without adding it up, to a negative value. We all know
that you are a lying, deceitful, vindictive, despotic and extra-ordinarily
dangerous man. This turns out to be your only saving grace,
that most of us know precisely where you stand on everything that really
matters, human rights, equality and freedom. But, at least we do know where you
stand.
This awareness confers upon you a measure of predictability, which allows
honest people to deal with you. In other words, people who are overtly criminal
provide the rest of us with upfront knowledge that we are dealing with
criminals. Take Osama bin Laden, for example. Here we have another idiot, of a
bit different color, who scares me a hell of a lot more than you do. But at
least we know where he stands as well.
What scares me more than anything, however, are all the
politically-correct idiot in the world who never show their true colors. This
mentality is a good deal more frightening than your overtly criminal mentality.
The twit mentality, as I shall refer to it, is much more frightening because
you never really know where you stand with twits, and you never really know how
twits stand with you. You never really know what twits believe, and you never
really know that you are getting screwed until you are screwed. The twit
mentality has never been too precisely defined, so let me clarify things.
Twits are people who tell you one thing and then do nothing or do the precise
opposite. They tell you what they think you want to hear and then they act on
their own ideas, typically unrelated to what they tell you. When confronted
about such lapses, twits invariably tell you what they think you want to hear
and serve up lies and fabrications as excuses. Getting the picture?
In the world of twits, words have no relationship to action, and all personal honor is happily lost in the cycle of fabrications and
excuses. The devoutly-held objective is to be politically-correct and come out
looking good, i.e., to have one's behind well covered and to remain in control
and on top of the situation. That is the sole objective of the twit mentality,
self-preservation of position and power through lies, fabrications and excuses.
It is pretty common in the world of capitalism.
In other words, twits do not believe in anything except for the place and the
moment. They can cut taxes today because the economy is so good. They can cut
taxes tomorrow because the economy is so bad. They believe that if they say
something enough times, it becomes the truth. They believe whatever is required
to remain in control of a self-defined reality, no need to consult others since
it wouldn't make any difference to them anyway.
One simply makes the world up as one goes. This, of course, is a severe form of
emotional and attitudinal retardation which can emerge from a childhood devoid
of parental honesty and parental love, typically the result of parents who are,
for whatever reasons, unable to love or don't have the time for it. The
children end up learning how the world works in the streets.
It is not that I care a whit for your sorry self, Saddam. But what scares me
even more than you and bin Laden is the fact that religious twits have come
into control of our government in
Given your own sordid past, I am sure you will recognize immediately how these
people are able to employ fear and fabrication to manipulate reality and make
you out to be the monster you are already known to be. How they promote an
unprovoked war upon you and your people, to appease the already-too-rich with
capital drawn from those who must work for a living. How they downplay the fact
that Osama bin Laden is still free and threatening the western world, to
denigrate and slander all critics as unpatriotic or heathen, and to eliminate
the rights of the American people at every chance. But that is all beside the
point.
The point is that our governmental administration (not Our
government) is using your own fear-laden approaches to coerce the people into
abiding a lying, deceitful, vindictive, despotic and extra-ordinarily dangerous
domestic and international agenda. They are using your own fabrication-laden
approaches to launch an immoral preemptive war against you and your people.
Now, ain't that some weird blowback? These people are
so hot to get you and your oil, they are willing to
destroy two centuries of hard-won human progress toward real democracy in
It is hard to say whom to bless and whom to blame in this ludicrous situation.
It may be permissible in your culture for you to impose an arrogant, despotic
agenda upon the Iraqi people. But it is most certainly not permissible in our
culture to impose an arrogant, despotic agenda upon the American people. One
does wonder why our administration uses your manipulative approaches, because
it is clear that you haven't accomplished a hell of a lot with them. But, while
you haven't amounted to much, it must blow your tiny mind to see what Osama bin
Laden has accomplished.
In something of a religous
fervor, our government's administration has fallen cleanly into bin Laden's Islamic apocalyptic trap, having been drawn down
into the same self-righteous, immoral, religious abyss in which bin Laden is
usually located. The result, of course, is just what bin Laden wants, an all
out war between Islam and the JudeoRoman "christian" west. In that case, we are not going to be
looking at a war between western christians
and religious fanatics, we are going to be looking at a war between religious
fanatics.
In the larger scheme of things, that leaves you between a rock and a hard
place, between a religious twit and a religious criminal. You stand condemned
by a religious twit for having committed no international sin in a decade and
you are being used by a religious criminal to further his dreams of western
apocalypse. That, in fact, is what this might be all about, getting rid of the
whole damned lot of you.
If all you belligerent twits blow yourselves and the "holylands"
up in some religious frenzy, well then who is ever again going to have faith in
supernatural religion and crony capitalism? Who is ever again going to abide
political philosophy based on the use of fear and fabrication? Do you see the
light at the end of the tunnel here?
Once the religious twits and religious fanatics have removed themselves from
power by discrediting themselves in the eyes of the world, then the people will
have their day in court, standing in judgment of the religious roots of
despotism. It will give the American people a chance to get back to the values
of nascent democracy and it will allow the western democracies to nourish a
global democracy under the auspices of honesty and compassion and fairness. The
so-called "end of time" is nothing more than the end of time for
intellectual peanuts like you. It will be the "beginning of human"
for the rest of us.
So you see, Saddam, in spite of yourself, you will likely prove to be worth
something after all to the cause of human oneness and world peace. Bless you,
Saddam, because the Roman God of the West is about to damn you.
