Dear Friends,
Peace upon you all.
Just a thought.
People, are in the same place for different reasons.
Same thing applies to the military.
US soldiers ... American boys and girls ... are in
Reports that are coming form different resources are confirming this.
Whether it's from the people of peace like "the Voices of wilderness"
or from
embedded journalists.
Even though the choice to go to war, was not theirs' ... but the way they
think of it and the way they handle themselves to a certain extent, is
theirs'.
I hear different way of thinking among the soldiers.
Some might be there for vengeance ... for Sept. 11 .. even though the Iraqis
had nothing to do with it ... someone has to pay.
Those are the ones who shoot to kill, rather than shooting on the car wheels.
Most, I believe, might be there because they wanted collage sponsorship, and
did not think that they were really going to be
sent to WAR so soon.
Perhaps they would like to do the time and get out of there ... That it's
going to be OK, especially that all they're doing is "
liberating poor
oppressed Iraqis".
Some might be proud American soldiers , who's families
are all from the
military, and they have to honor "The Flag".
If they are sent for a job ... this is what they'll do .
No questions asked. Absolute trust in the American Government's dissensions
... never mind Bush is the president, now.
Some have different reasons , that I don't know of.
But Some of them ... believe it or not ... are
really "people of peace".
I've been hearing them, every now and then.
Their voice are too hard to ignore.
Those American boys and girls, got into this war for different reasons, and
now that they saw the ugly face of war, they really want no part in it.
They have seen many Iraqis being killed for no reason at all, other than
being in the wrong place the wrong time.
They have seen so many lives of civilians that could have been spared ... but
no attempt was made to avoid killing them.
I believe that... yesterday, I saw a picture of one of them ... "The
soldiers
of peace".
It was a picture on the cover of " Washington
Report" magazine.
The picture was of a soldier sitting on the ground ,
and on his lap was a
little Iraqi girl.
I thought maybe the blood on the girl's clothes are
not hers ... maybe her
parents were killed ... because I couldn't see them around.
There were soldiers in the background, who had their backs to this soldier
and the little girl he was holding.
I must have stared on this photo for quite some time ... and every time I
look at it now , it melts my heart .
What I saw in this picture , is a soldier who was in
so much pain , perhaps
more than the girl herself.
The girl had a little blood on her shirt but did not look so distressed ...
she did not know what was going on... But the soldier did.
Through out the war coverage ... every time I watched the casualties, I
couldn't help but put myself in there shoes ... what if those burned kids
were mine?
Yesterday, I did not only feel for the girl ... but I felt for the soldier
too.
And today for both of them I'll speak.
I'll say that I heard him just by looking at his sincere face, that at that
moment .. he could not have
cared less about Saddam or Bush ... He saw no
sense in this vicious war.
It's a terrible game of greed that he really does not want to play.
He knows that this girl will have to grow up in this tough world without a
Mom.
And he feels so helpless , he does not know what to
do.
Maybe the soldiers in the background did not care .. but he did.
Today for you, I'll speak ... Oh soldier of peace.
I will let every one know about you.
I will do every thing I can to work for peace.
I hope that you , along with all the soldiers of peace
... will come home
safe, unharmed and without harming anyone.
It's time for you to come home , and leave
I hope that little girls like the one in your lap ,
will be spared the pain
that this girl will face, of having to grow without the love of her
mother.
Maybe you felt so helpless ... but just by caring ... this captured moment...
I am sure ... has touched so many lives.
please take a moment to look at them.
Some times a little love , does wonders.
I leave you in peace.
Yasmin
PS: after I stared and stared at the picture, I
looked inside the magazine
for a comment , and this is what it's said:

killed in the crossfire between US and Iraqi forces in central
