“Just walking in the desert is not going to reveal the truth”

David Kay: CIA Guy (Or Weapons Expert)?

“Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.”

 US Constitution

It is incredibly embarrassing to hear David Kay speak about the progress of the search for Weapons Mostly Disappeared. Was it not Saddam's WMD capabilities which posed an imminent threat to US national security? Was this not the reason Congress was sold on their joint resolution authorizing Bush to use military force at his leisure (Public Law 107-243)?

Mr. Kay's temporary conclusions and mutterings serve only to negate Bush’s justification for invading Iraq. It is now clear that Bush intentionally deceived Congress into authorizing the pre-emptive use of military force and that he intentionally undermined the UN's inspection regime in his mad rush to oust Saddam Hussein from power claiming that Saddam posed an imminent threat to US security and the region. Saddam’s local adversaries did not perceive this threat. To the contrary, the Arab League signed a resolution, pre-invasion, demanding the US immediately withdraw its troops from the `occupied territories' as it was the US which posed an imminent threat to the security of their region.

After $300 million spent and not a single WMD found Kay tells us the Iraqi Survey Group needs another $600 million and 6 - 9 months (coincides with the election) to find Hussein Bin Laden's intent to take over the Middle East before the US does. This admission contradicts the imminent threat theory. Of course we must always view Bush's actions in the context of the Neocon cookbook for a Pax Americana (RAD). In fact, we can thank Mr. Wolfowitz’ for his confession that WMD was just propaganda to sell Congress and the People on a war for economic and political control over the critical geographical center necessary to establish American global hegemony.

Commenting on Kay’s report, Senator Rockefeller (D- W.Va.) offered some cutting remarks on the doctrine of pre-emptive wars yet concluded that we shall have to wait for the final report, stopping short of an accusation that the Bush Administration lied. It would be nice to see these Congressional Reps, regardless of their party, do the right thing. The right thing to do, and what we pay them for, is to uphold the Constitution in the name of the people. If they can't do their job and hold Bush accountable for his reckless unilateralist treatise then they should all be fired.

Bush has lied to Congress and the American people and endangered our national security.  His violations of International Law and the Constitution have clearly aided terrorist organizations in their hatred of the US and have served to make the US a much less secure place. On this premise alone Bush is impeachable.
