Dear Friends,
Looking at the picture of “New Iraq” … There is something very wrong with it, something that does not belong.
Again and again, I see fully armed American soldiers with a background that does not fit.
The places are painfully familiar, places so close to my heart.
Why are these soldiers there, so far from their home?
And when Iraqis are not being searched, hand cuffed or dragged with bags over their heads, I see Iraqis passing by, completely ignoring the soldiers… as if they do not exist.
Two people who are, against their own wishes, in the very same picture but no interaction at all …As if someone has taken a picture of Iraqis but failed to move the film when he took the picture of soldiers.
Missing from the picture, are those responsible for this mistake!
Perhaps they are sitting comfortably in their palaces.
It is very clear though, the ones in charge are those who do not belong in there.
How many will have to die, before the picture is right again?

I phoned my sister, today.
I was not able to reach them during the past two weeks.
My youngest sister's communication center was burned to the ground, earlier this month and my eldest sister has just had her phone line fixed.
She said; they are taking it a day at a time, that they are used to explosions every where, as they step on old exploded spots in the streets without thinking about it ... and they say their prayer before leaving the house.
Living in Baghdad," You never know," she said, "if you can make it home, safe".
When is the picture going to be right again?
In peace.
